I am a figurative painter based in Hamilton Ontario.

My work has evolved from figuration to hard edged abstraction and back to figuration over many years.

For me, people and their relationships, their characters are the most interesting subject I can imagine. I take my inspiration from the people in my life, who are some of my most important subjects. I also draw inspiration and insight from my study, over many years, of the world around us and how it operates.

There are two fundamentals for me in my artistic practice. First is to celebrate this life that we share together. This is what drives me to paint portraits of the people who are close to me, and of other people whom I find interesting. I also find joy in painting the objects of everyday life which surround me.

I am also an experienced wedding photographer and videographer.

Finally, share my love of painting with others by teaching oil painting technique. My classes are open to all, and I teach them on Thursday evenings from 6PM to 9PM, and on Sunday afternoons from 1PM to 4PM at the Cotton Factory Studios. See here for details.
